What’s Going On Lately?

Hey Guys,
with this Blog Post I want to give you an overview on what I’m currently doing and what you can expect from me in 2010.
After working like a maniac for the last 30 months it’s time to change the way I’m doing business. I regard the last 30 months as my business start-up period and like it is with every business, you have to put a lot of time into it at the beginning.
You might have heared about the Pareto Principle, also known as the 80-20 rule. It states that roughly 80% of your success comes from 20% of your actions. That means 80% of the work that I’ve done in the last 30 months must have been unprofitable. And looking back, I have to admit that it’s true.
I have about 50 domains and only about 10 of them are profitable… I’ve tested literally hundreds of ways to get website traffic and only a few are worth the money or time you have to invest to get the traffic… I’ve tried several “business models” and only a few worked for me… and the list goes on.
Looking back I must say I’ve done alot of work for nothing… so it’s time for some changes. I’ll cut down my daily working hours by 80% by concentrating only on the most productive tasks and I’ll try to get more organized.
Another change in my business concerns Blogging. I run several blogs and used them mostly as kind of an article publishing platform with little personal touch. Don’t get me wrong, the information in the articles are great but there is no real interaction with the reader and that’s what blogs were made for. So on this blog I’ll try to concentrate on personal posts rather than articles. Also video-blogging is on my list.
Now that I want to do a more personal blogging style I also need to change certain things in my life… not much to talk about when you are hanging 15 hours a day in front of your computer… it would be much more interesting if I can blog about offline seminars, trips to other countries, meetings with other marketers and just fun stuff.
So one big task for me in 2010 is Traveling!
Hey, if you know of any offline seminars or meetings in 2010, leave me a comment and invite me.
Unfortunately I can’t just drop all current projects and get on a plane… before I start my travel journey there are just a couple more projects that I have to finish. The first one will be a viral traffic generator, launching on February 2nd. Make sure you mark that date in your calendar.
Until I’ve finished my upcoming projects the offline journey will start locally here in Cologne, Germany. I’ll organize some meetings here with other marketers… so if you are living in or near Cologne and would like to meet me and other marketers, contact me through my Help Desk or by phone.
Alright, I’ll be back with more news soon.
To Your Success,
Guido Nussbaum

Nice blog, Guido! I like your ideas on blogging, trying to do that here with three of our blogs, i.e. get more personal – and add more videos, podcasts, too.
If you come to the USA, give a shout! Love to hook up.
See you ’round the globe somewhere…:)
very nice
Hi Guido
Looks nice, really like the new blog. Looking forward to your future posts and wish you all the best with your plans for 2010.
Have a great time
Best Wishes,
~ Robby
P.S.: I miss GuruAmbush in your “My Websites” section
i see you got your hands full what you been doing all year. im trying to learn about everything about stating my website online and to get traffic and that other good stuff. thanks Linda
Hi Guido,
nicely expressed thoughts about the work we do with emphasis. Others would express it as obsession, anway I still love my 15 hours in front of my PC, even when I am sure that will change one day. And the thought about the Pareto principle is absolutely right, I am working on the consequences of that observation too. I wish you all the success you have in mind for your projects
thumbs up
Guido
Hey Guido,
Great blog. I’ve been wondering where and who is the “real” Guido. You are starting to show your true self now and that’s great. Keep it up. And all the best for 2010.
Rick
god job.
Hi there Guido,
I thought I had not heard from you in the recent few weeks.
Looks like you have done superb job of the blog design.
Looks fantastic, clean and easy to navigate.
I wish you the best in your travels.
I also love traveling.
I’d drop everything to jump on a plane and go to far off places.
Love all the different cultures, people, architecture. and way of life.
Best of luck with your change in direction.

Nice blog theme but perhaps it needs a bit more of a personal touch such as a photo of you/family to show you actually relaxing!!
Hi Guido,
It’s good to see another marketer wanting to focu on living life rather than working 23 hours a day….lol
It might help a lot of your readers if you went into more detail on what did work well for you?
So they can all avoid the 80% that didn’t
As for the new blog – I’ve always ‘Rambled on’ on my own blog, and my readers seem to like it. – So I’m sure your readers will prefer to read a real persons views rather than just a few articles followed by a big promo as so many do.
I look forward to reading more of your adventures online as you post them
Warm Regards

Hi Randy,
yes that’s a good point, I’ll do future posts here that explain what the profitable 20% of the actions are.
Guido, the new site looks great. There must be something in the air, because I looked at some of my sites and came to the same conclusion: the blogs need to more personal. The articles and internal pages can be the information/content stuff, and the blog is where to connect with people. So I will definitely be following and modelling you!
I too am interested in seeing your comments on the profitable/not profitable domains. In fact, I’d be interested in seeing the NOT profitable ones, and then having a community discussion on “what’s wrong.” That might be a better learning experience.

Hey Guido,
Thank you for the email link to your blog. I believe you are on the right path. I will put more personal posts on my blog as a direct result of reading your posts and I’ll work on being more work efficient as I go about my daily advertising tasks.
I will appreciate any criticism you or your readers would give me about my blog: tim-kinkaid.blogspot.com
Thank you and keep up the good work.

If your looking for seminars depending on what part of the country your in, we host seminars every week. We are constantly growing and our themes are personal and team development. let me know if your interested.
p.s.
Nice blog. You’ve given me some ideas for my own blog. Thanks
Hi Guido,
I can truly relate to the Pareto Principle, but my version of the 80-20 rule is that 80% will do nothing and 20% will do just enough which is why 80% of the work that I’ve done in the last 30 months has also been unprofitable.
It is even more true of the past year where we had to show some key leaders where they could find the exit before we were forced to throw them out the door.
I like the more personal style of your blog. My business partner has been after me to do something very similar since my blogs lean towards helping new online marketers find their way in the dark and do not include much of my personal life.
Since I moved back to Germany this past September I would appreciate it if you would remember to invite me when you start organizing your meetings with other marketers.
Keep in mind that my German is embarrassingly horrible…it’s difficult to converse in German when your daughter is bent over double laughing.
Regards,
Stan
Hi Guido
Nice blog, I would have another look at your personal page, mine was just as bad. Go with the flow and tell us about who you are not what you are.
As for the parteto principle, I can definately relate to that, since losing my job last week I have achieved more online in 7 days than I have in the last 2 years.
Cut the chaff and concentrate on the revenue and networking, as one tip I learnt this week put it, get it working and worry about beautiful later.
all the best

Hi Guido,
I like the site design. I’m looking forward to reading more about what has been working for you, and how you are restructuring your business.
Good observation regarding Pareto principle.
Here is the catch: if the Pareto principle is all-inclusive, then it means that even if I try to concentrate only on productive 20%, then only 20% of my work will be productive.
A sci-fi writer Theodore Sturgeon once noted that “90% of science fiction is crap”, but then added: “When you think about it, 90% of everything is crap”.
My experience supports this observation. Unfortunately we have to work through 90% (or is it (95%?) of junk, but without it we don’t get to the good 10%.
Hi, mr. Nussbaum, i’ve seen lots of blogstiles and i like both the one like mine and the clean design (like yours). I like it and i follow your posts. (I like TW too)
Best regards

Hi Guido
Thank you for the post, I am still fairly new to this whole online world. I still have yet to post a blog!
I have learned quit a bit through trial and error in a fairly short period of time!
Now I have a better understanding of blogging!
Hey Guido, for the blogs I like reading the principle of “keeping it real” seems to be the one that works for me. Having ppl’s own thoughts, ideas, failures, mistakes, silly concepts etc etc appear on the screen shows there is a real person on the other end. Looking forward to seeing what you have to say
Cheers
Martin
Hi Guido
Looks good. Great job.
Committee of One.
Great job on your latest endeavor here Guido!
Will visit often.
Nice looking blog, Guido…clean look and well organized. I like it! And I really like your insight about the personal touch. I do NOT, however, like the movement in the “Featured Post”. It’s distracting and actually rather annoying to me to have movement out of the corner of my eye while trying to read other items.
I started internet marketing about 12 months ago, and probably 95% of my work has been unprofitable, but I certainly don’t consider it unproductive or a waste of time, nor should you! I believe when one starts any new enterprise, career, or venture there is a certain necessary learning curve that is usually not particularly profitable…but certainly necessary so one can learn what IS profitable. We each reach that point where we find our direction and see what we need to fine-tune in order to begin to achieve our goals. You are there, and I think I am amlost there too.
Wishing you great success.
Hi Guido,
Yes, 80/20 rules is about right. It does get frustration but since you wrote that it get encouraging because I know I m not alone in all this.
We just have to go and push hard to make this profitable and worth out time.
Keep up the good work!
Nathan Klie.
Hi Guido: The internet and its endless advertising self has a good option thru forums like yours.i promote as an affiliate in my free time.i do miss out on quite a bit..the seminars i get invited to are usually from GDI or some stateside companies,if they pop up i’ll send a link to you.The overseas type of multi-lingual adv. is very populated but easy to project from page format, and online translation helps too..my clixsense ads havesignups all over 5 continents.good luck w/your endeavors– Ray D
Very good blog! That’s what I call social marketing!
Thanks for the upcoming project(s) update.
Hey Guido,
I just discovered your blog. It’s great to get some more personal info about you…have been following your online career, and have been impressed by the high reviews you get from the “old hands” who consider you one of the fast moving, up and coming online marketers.
What I find fascinating is the relatively short time you have been working as an online marketer, considering the reputation you have built for yourself.
I’m always interested in checking out anything I receive from you.
Good luck in your future endeavors, and I look forward to your new projects.
All the best,

Man it’s been great working with you for the last few years. I hope you can make it to Australia, I owe you a meal or two and a beer I guess!
I remember your first contact with me – to solve a couple of teething issues with GWM 1, and then you offered to completely rebuild GWM 1 to make GWM 2, and that has been the most stable Giveaway Software on the market! Nice to see it evolve into GWM 3 … that’s absolutely awesome
Great also to hear you change focus to work on profitable projects. There’s so many “great ideas” that circle our heads at times, but only a handful of them are worth chasing.
This year I’m doing something a little different too – going offline to do internet training for small business. I’ve always liked the more personal approach, but that is so hard online, grrr…
Will no doubt hear of more of your success as time goes on.

Guido,
Agreed that we often spend far too much of our time working like madmen on the wrong things. We have to be a lot more strategic with our time and where we put our efforts.
Hi Guido,
& Hi Jacque from a few posts back up the comment line!!
I like the fresh, clean site too.
Is that really a pic of you that admin put in? Nice one…
The 80/20 thing is almost a must do in reality, as how do you know what will work for you in an environment you have no prior knowledge of?
I think that rule is sort of correct, but you can not escape the actualities of it in time & practice.
It’s a good thing to know about & to be aware of, when the time comes to cull & take stock.
I think that’s when we realize what has been learned, what info had to be got to make an informed decision for us to move on in the direction we are best suited to.
Trial & error!
Kindest Regards,
Poppie
Good job ,and good luck with your intended ventures .I’m sure with your previous record that all will fall into place for you and if you do get to the states be sure and keep in contact
